Abstract
Multi-port versions of the PD GaN fast charger supply power to two or more electronics at the same time. Built-in MCU of the PD GaN fast charger dynamically redistributes total power and adjusts each port output. This PD GaN fast charger covers total power limit, port priority and load-switch response time parameters, ideal for travelers charging laptops and phones simultaneously.

1. Total Power Bound of Multi-Port Architecture
Total output power of the PD GaN fast charger is limited by GaN power stage hardware rating. When only one port is used, the PD GaN fast charger delivers full rated power. After connecting a second device, total power of the PD GaN fast charger will not exceed hardware maximum limit.
2. Port Priority and Dynamic Allocation Logic
The main USB-C port of the PD GaN fast charger is usually assigned higher priority. When a high-power device is detected, the PD GaN fast charger prioritizes the main port. The PD GaN fast charger reduces secondary port power for redistribution.

3. Transient Response for Load Switching
During device plug/unplug, voltage dip of the PD GaN fast charger must stay under 5%. Load switching of the PD GaN fast charger must not cut power to active devices. The control algorithm determines whether transitions of the PD GaN fast charger remain stable and oscillation-free.
4. Protection Coordination for Power Sharing
Over-current or short-circuit trigger on any port of the PD GaN fast charger will not shut down all ports entirely. The PD GaN fast charger uses channel-isolated protection to isolate faulty ports. Coordinated protection improves safety of the PD GaN fast charger.
5. Efficiency Characteristics under Multi-Load
Average efficiency of the PD GaN fast charger slightly drops when multiple ports are loaded. Designers balance single-port peak performance and combined multi-port efficiency.

Conclusion
Dynamic power sharing enables parallel fast charging on the PD GaN fast charger. To customize power allocation logic for a multi-port PD GaN fast charger, contact Simsukian for solution review.
