Abstract
Medical equipment requires highly stable power supply. A desktop power adapter serves as the core power supply unit for medical devices. During selection, buyers must verify isolation voltage, patient leakage current and enclosure leakage current of the desktop power adapter. The desktop power adapter shall comply with medical safety standards to limit electric shock risk and maintain stable continuous output for monitoring and rehabilitation devices.

1. Medical Isolation Grade Key Parameters
Desktop power adapter for medical use shall meet 2MOPP double isolation protection, with 4000VAC isolation between input and output. Its universal input range covers 85–264VAC, 50/60Hz. Common DC outputs include 12V and 24V, output tolerance within ±5%. Patient leakage current shall be less than 100μA and enclosure leakage current below 0.5mA to protect patients. Qualified desktop power adapter lists all leakage data on datasheets for medical factory audit.
2. Continuous Load and Fault Protection
Medical devices run 24/7. The desktop power adapter supports continuous rated load operation with 0.7–0.8 derating factor to limit temperature rise. Integrated protection includes OVP, OCP, SCP and OTP. When short circuit occurs, the desktop power adapter activates hiccup mode and recovers automatically after fault removal. Protection logic is a key reliability factor when evaluating a desktop power adapter for medical projects.
3. Environmental Compatibility and Flame Retardant Material
The desktop power adapter works from 0℃ to +50℃, storage from -20℃ to +85℃, humidity 5%–90% non-condensing. Housing material is V-0 flame retardant. PCB conformal coating resists corrosion from medical disinfectant vapor. Only coated desktop power adapter can withstand humid medical environments.

4. Compliance Test Items
Each desktop power adapter undergoes hipot test, leakage current test, burn-in test and ESD test (contact ±8kV, air ±15kV). General consumer adapters cannot replace a medical-grade desktop power adapter due to different safety requirements.
Conclusion
When selecting a desktop power adapter for medical use, leakage current, isolation grade and long-term reliability are top priorities. Contact Simsukian for medical power evaluation and sample testing.
